While aircraft interiors and seat design will now be consistent across both airlines, Cathay Dragon’s contemporary Chinese design accents will provide a signature cabin experience. You’ll encounter a newly designed range of products, including lotus-patterned packaging, stationery, playing cards, sim card holders, and postcards, all unique to the new brand. An updated selection of pillows and blankets – now adorned with a Cathay Dragon trim – are softer and more comfortable.
Cathay Dragon will continue to draw upon its Chinese heritage with an inflight menu of seasonal specialities, such as Shanghainese hairy crab roe and winter hot pot. There’s a fresh focus on local snacks, including with upcoming offerings including pineapple buns, egg tarts, and milk tea – and in 2017, a special collaboration with Chef Nic Cookies, whose flavours are inspired Chef Nic Cookies – baked in flavours inspired by beloved Hong Kong cafés known as cha chaan teng.
Both airlines feature the iconic brushwing on the aircraft tail fins, with each airline featuring its defining colour scheme – red for Cathay Dragon and green for Cathay Pacific. The brushwing will now also appear on uniform accessories for both cabin crew and pilots of Cathay Dragon. Meanwhile, the iconic logo of a dragon in flight has been subtly updated to reflect the brand's contemporary Chinese design philosophy, and will appear on the nose of every aircraft.
First and Business Class passengers – and Marco Polo Club members – will now enjoy shared access to all of both airlines’ award-winning lounges around the world. This expanded network features all of our premium properties at Hong Kong International Airport, including Gate 16, which will be renovated to follow Cathay Pacific’s new lounge design. Our aim is to provide you with world-class Asian hospitality whenever you are travelling, with spaces that consistently reflect our commitment to a Life Well Travelled.
We're also building a more seamless experience by integrating our digital channels, making it simpler for you to plan your journey. This year will see the launch of a new, unified online presence for both Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon – starting with a single, shared website for both airlines. You can now make reservations on both airlines from the Cathay Pacific website, and be notified of your chosen airline during the booking process. Cathay Dragon flights will also be available to buy on the Cathay Pacific mobile app.
With the launch of Cathay Dragon, Marco Polo Club members will continue to earn club points as they do today: by flying in eligible fare classes on Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon, and oneworld airlines. Club members will continue to enjoy exclusive benefits whenever they fly on Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon – including access to priority check-in and boarding as well as flexible, family-friendly services and entry to premium lounges worldwide.
